… when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father, He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future]. He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. Everything that the Father has is Mine. That is what I meant when I said that He [the Spirit] will take the things that are Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. John 16:13-15, AMP
We have a huge advantage! Ever thought about it? We have more than Google, Siri, Maps, Fandango and the Weather App living on the inside of us. God, the Holy Spirit, who knows all things––past, present and future––lives in our bodies!
Dear fellow Christian, we have the most supernatural Tour Guide with us continually. Jesus told us all of the things the Holy Spirit would do for us. Let’s look at another excerpt from Chapter 1 of The Spirit Empowered Life.
One of the guiding roles of the Holy Spirit is to draw us to Jesus. Do you remember His work in your own life? The Holy Spirit tells, convinces, rebukes and convicts those who don’t yet know the Lord––urging them to turn their hearts to Jesus.
In a world where lies, falsehoods and embellishment abound, it is comforting to know the Holy Spirit will always lead you to the truth––the whole, full truth. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have to put on my big girl pants to hear the truth. I want the truth and nothing but the truth, until I get the truth. Then I want a lollipop and my pacifier. The truth definitely sets us free, but first it ticks us off…as someone on Pinterest once said.
Not only does He lead us into the truth, but He has promised to let us in on the future!
It’s a great blessing to know the Holy Spirit shows us things to come. He will always give us a heads up when we need to have revelation about present tense concerns and future things, in particular. We may not know every detail about things to come, but we will have a sense or an awareness of things to come.
Like, if they are going to be downsizing at your place of employment, there is a very good chance the Holy Spirit will give you an advance notification that something is up so you can pray or prepare.
Or, like oh, let’s say one of your kids who you think is basically perfect has actually, unbeknownst to you, begun to hang out with the wrong crowd and one day the Holy Spirit prompts you to check the little darling’s backpack where you find some incriminating contraband, (insert sound of pressure cooker releasing steam), you calmly and in a Christ-like way ring your dear child’s neck, take the car keys, the cell phone and ground your angel for the next 12 years in an effort to head off this short-lived rebellious streak. That is, if you were to ever have kids like that, of course.
Whether it’s personal, work, ministry or our home life, the Holy Spirit is our Guide––so, let’s tune into His voice more regularly and follow His guidance daily.
Say It: “Father, thank You for the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit! Today, I hear His voice and I follow His guidance. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."
