“Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
Blear-y (defn. adjective):
very tired and unable to see clearly,
dull or dimmed especially from fatigue or sleep.
Does that resonate with you? Have you been tired? Spiritual eyesight blurred? Mind unfocused? In a spiritual fog?
What should you do?
First: Rest. Get a good night’s sleep. Literally.
Second: Wake Up. Get intentional. Spiritually.
Here is some help!
To wake up spiritually, do the same thing you do when you wake up in a fog, tired and sleepy on a Monday morning.
Splash water on your face! Get a cup of coffee!
I think the enemy works overtime to put God’s people in a spiritual coma where they glaze over and robotically do life. Don’t allow it! Splash the water of God’s Word on your face and drink a cup of spiritual caffeine by singing a few songs in your off-tune voice!
A few years ago, in 2007 to be exact, on a drive to Chicago, I was feeling spiritually weary and bleary and as I prayed in the Spirit, I began to sing out of my heart…and this song emerged.
God Has A Word For The Weary – 2007
God has a word for the weary; God has a word for the weak;
God has a word for the weary, and His word is simply speak!
Don't be silent. Don't be silent.
Don't doubt. Don't pout.
Don't be silent. Don't you doubt, and don't you pout.
But let the weak speak — let the weak speak,
Let the weak say, "I am strong."
God is not wrong.
Let the weak and the weary, let them not become bleary.
But let them speak and sing the Word.
Sing the Word, sing the Word...declare what you know
And you'll find God is with you from your heart as you go.
Sing it out. Sing it out. Sing it loud. Sing it strong.
You may not even know what to say, but that's okay
The words will come. Just speak and sing it now.
God has a word for the weary, and God has a word for the weak
And this is His word are you listening?
His word to you is speak!
This is His word for you today––are you listening? Speak! Sing! Wake up!
You might want to try to sing my lyrics and see what type of melody you come up with…but better yet…why don’t you clear your fog and wake up your spiritual self by singing your own song today? Spend a few minutes praying and then see what type of song the Lord puts in your heart. Sing it out. I’ll bet you’ll be surprised and blessed!
Say It: “Father, thank You for helping me to splash the water of your Word on my face today and thank You for helping me to sing a wake up song! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
