God Cares

Jeff Jones

“…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”  1 Peter 5:7, NKJV

Did you know that God really does care for you and about you? There is never a time when you are not on His mind and in His heart. And because of that deep and genuine care and concern for you, He promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Just think about that for a minute. The God who created the heavens, the earth, the seas and every living thing—cares for you. The bottom line is this:

You matter to God, every minute of every day.

That’s not just a great thought or theory; it’s a life changing reality. That truth is a fundamental building block of the life of faith.

It’s because He cares so deeply for you that He gives you an open door to cast all of your cares, your concerns, and your worries on Him. He loves you way too much to burden you with the cares of this life. So, what have you been carrying? What’s been weighing you down? What’s been troubling you lately? Whatever it is, you’ve got to let it go. You’ve got to come out from under it. It’s time to let it go and give it to God!

Philippians 4:6 tells us to, “be anxious for nothing….” In other words, there is no care too big or too small to cast upon the Lord. I remember a saying we used as kids, “I am rubber, you are glue. Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.” That’s exactly what you need to do when a care or burden begins to overwhelm you. Picture yourself taking that care, putting it in your hands and then throwing it God’s way and see it sticking to Him like glue. He can handle it. No matter if it’s one care or a hundred. God is big enough to handle every one of them.

That’s what Jesus did for you on the cross. Isaiah 53:4-5 in God’s Word Translation says, “He certainly has taken upon himself our suffering and carried our sorrows, but we thought that God had wounded him, beat him, and punished him. He was wounded for our rebellious acts. He was crushed for our sins. He was punished so that we could have peace, and we received healing from his wounds.”

In Psalm 34:9 we are reminded that, “many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Although you may face many afflictions, many concerns, and many burdens—God promises that He will deliver you from all of them.

Today, meditate on the fact that the Lord cares for you and about you!

Say It: “Father, thank You for caring for me. Because You care, I have decided by faith to cast all of my cares on You. I will not be anxious about anything today. I’m expecting Your peace to cover me in everything I do. I’m free, because You care. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
