God Watches Over His Word

Beth Jones

"Then said the Lord to me, 'You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.'" Jeremiah 1:12, AMP

God is alert. God is active. God is watching. He's not asleep on the job. He's not kicked back in the Heavenly Lazy Boy. The Lord is in the performance business!

He is not randomly or arbitrarily at work on planet earth – He is purposefully and intentionally at work performing His Word. So, what does that mean for us? It means we can and should cooperate with Him!

God wants to put on a performance and we need to give Him something to work with – His Word. This is huge. He doesn't promise to perform our begging, yearning, crying or our good deeds, years of devotion or hours we've logged in prayer…He performs His Word.

The Lord actively engages with the activities on earth – particularly those of His children – by performing His Word. This means we need to get into the Word (actually read it!), meditate on His promises, lay hold of His truth, claim His Word by faith and give Him something to perform in our lives.

It starts by digging into the Word to find out what God has promised and said – to us, about us and for us – in Christ! Then, we lay hold of His Word and appropriate God's promises by faith. We do this by receiving, believing, acknowledging and confessing His Word in our lives. In this way, we intentionally give back to God His very Word and He has something to perform.

It might sound like this…

"Father, I am so thankful that Your Word says, "You surround me with favor as with a shield…" so today, I thank You for performing all kinds of favors, open doors, opportunities and good things for me."

"Father, I am so thankful that Your Word says, "You forgive all my sins and heal all my diseases…" so today, I thank You for performing a clean heart in me and for making me the righteousness of God in Christ. I thank You that You are doing a great performance of healing, health, recovery and strength in my mortal body each and every day."

"Father, I am so thankful that Your Word says, "My God is the strength of my life…" so, today, I thank You for performing a great work of strength in my spirit, mind, emotions and body."

God loves to watch over His Word to perform it! As we believe and receive God's Word, we give Him something to perform in our lives.

Say It: “Father, I am so thankful that You watch over Your Word to perform it. Today, I thank You for performing Your Word in my life – specifically, by faith I receive, believe and appropriate these Scriptures and promises from Your Word __________________. (Let the Lord know the specific Scriptures You are claiming by faith and thank Him for performing His Word on your behalf!) In Jesus' Name. Amen."
