"Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm." Ephesians 6:13, NLT
Do you remember the Weebles? Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down! That’s right, those round-bottomed toys wobble, but they don’t fall down. How about the clown bop bags? Remember the inflatable clowns you could punch over, but they always popped back up?
We ought to be like Weebles and bop bags. When things come against us, we ought to pop back up and stay right in step with the Lord and His plan for our lives. The true indicator of our maturity is simply this: We’re still standing!
You know the old saying: “Winners never quit and quitters never win.” It’s true. The secret to standing strong, popping back up and never falling down is pretty basic: Don’t quit! Don't throw in the towel. Don't walk away. Don't give up. Don't fall down. Stand. Stay strong in the Lord and His purposes.
Sure, we all go through battles. The enemy throws his best shots. He may use circumstances, strangers or those we thought were friends to come against us. Our patience may be tried. Our faith tested. Lies may be told about us. We may be disappointed. Things may be done behind our back. Life might be unfair. We might be hurt. We might be disillusioned by what people do or don’t do. Tribulations will come. Persecution will go.
So, what do we do? Get serious about standing – be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God and resist the temptation to quit. Don’t let the enemy take you out. Don’t allow God’s plan for your life to be short-circuited.
There are a lot of strong starters at every race, every job, every class, every school and every program – anyone can stick with something for a few months or a few years. The really impressive ones are those who have faced some battles, been pushed around, knocked down a few times and they didn't burn out, instead they keep popping back up. The strong finishers are the impressive ones. Look around and follow the example of the Weebles who are still standing 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 and 50 years after they started. Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down!
Say It: “Father, I may wobble, but I won’t fall down. The enemy might use people to come against me, but in Jesus’ Name I’ll pop back up. The devil might throw his best shots, but I’ll put on the armor of God and stand strong. I will not be defeated and I will not quit. At the end of the day – 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 years from now, by Your grace – I’ll still be standing. In Jesus' Name, Amen.”
