Everyone Has A Story

Beth Jones

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because…" Isaiah 61:1, NASU

The Spirit of the Lord is upon us because! Because of what? Because He wants to minister "to us" and "through us!"

Everyone has a story, a story that God wants to touch, heal and bless. Everyone has a story that the Lord wants to use to help others. In order to do that, He often has to minister "to us" and then "through us" to help others.

The Lord knows all about our story and all the things we have been through. He knows the toll that sin, this fallen world and cruel human beings can take. Jesus knows the pain of abuse, rejection, disapproval, loneliness and illness. The Lord is aware that these things often bring us to a place of brokenness, emptiness and utter dependence on Him. Don't matter how bad or sad, God can redeem our story.

Whether we have experienced these things in a huge way or in a small measure, we've all been scathed by the world in which we live. When we cry out to the Lord, He will minister to us and eventually through us. God will heal our broken hearts. He'll set us free. He'll restore our lives and fill us with joy, strength and purpose. The Lord will minister to us and then He'll minister through us so we can help others with a similar story.

Today, be encouraged and allow the Lord to minister to you so that He can also minister through you to help others.

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise up the former devastations; and they will repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations." Isaiah 61:1-4, NASU

Say It: "Father, I thank You that You will use my story for Your glory. I thank You for the anointing of the Holy Spirit that ministers 'to me' and 'through me.' Help me to be patient as You work in me and as You prepare to work through me. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
