The Happiest Place On Earth

Beth Jones

"…How happy your men must be!" 2 Chronicles 9:7, NIV

We were talking the other day and asked this question, "At times like these, where on earth can people go to experience genuine love, joy, peace and life?" We came to one conclusion: the Church! At least, that's how it's supposed to be. Jesus is the Head of the Church so it should be the happiest place on earth—a place of great joy, peace, freedom, life, gladness, excellence, service and a major "wow" for everyone who enters.

Disneyland is often referred to as the “happiest place on earth,” but where else in life can you experience true joy for an extended period of time? Education can't offer it. The government can't offer it. Many families don't offer it. Most jobs don't offer it. Disney shouldn't have anything on the Church. The Church has an amazing opportunity to be marked by God's very presence and in His presence is fullness of joy! When there's an open heaven over a church—the Lord pours out His Word, His Spirit, His love, His freedom and His life and fills a place with an atmosphere of happiness, warmth, excellence, friendliness, care, prayer, worship and genuine love.

Read the whole story of the Queen of Sheba. She went to the happiest place on earth at the time and the experience took her breath away. She was absolutely amazed. That's how our churches ought to be, right?

"When the Queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's reputation, which brought honor to the name of the LORD, she came to test him with hard questions. She arrived in Jerusalem with a large group of attendants and a great caravan of camels loaded with spices, huge quantities of gold, and precious jewels. When she met with Solomon, they talked about everything she had on her mind. Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. When the Queen of Sheba realized how wise Solomon was, and when she saw the palace he had built, she was breathless. She was also amazed at the food on his tables, the organization of his officials and their splendid clothing, the cup-bearers and their robes, and the burnt offerings Solomon made at the Temple of the LORD. She exclaimed to the king, 'Everything I heard in my country about your achievements and wisdom is true! I didn't believe it until I arrived here and saw it with my own eyes. Truly I had not heard the half of it! Your wisdom and prosperity are far greater than what I was told. How happy these people must be!'" (1 Kings 10:1-8, NLT)

We are praying these things over our church and I hope you are encouraged to pray the same over your church! After all, the Church should be the happiest place on earth.

Say It: "Father, I agree that Your Church should be the happiest place on earth. A place full of friendly people, joy, warmth, freedom and love. Help me to do my part so that my church is a place like that. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
