“Then Jesus explained: ‘My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing His work.’” John 4:34, NLT

What gives you nourishment? What gives you much needed energy? Where do you get life's nutrients? What's your main food source?

The answer is simple: Do the will of God and finish His work.

Jesus knew how to tap into something we all need more of: God's supernatural nourishment. So, what is God's will and what should our nourishment look like? Our nourishment comes from doing these things…

Preach Salvation: "The Lord is … not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) We know that preaching, teaching and sharing the good news of repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ is God's will.

Minister Healing: "Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, 'If You are willing, You can make me clean.' Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, 'I am willing; be cleansed.'" (Mark 1:40-41) We know God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. We also know that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever and therefore He is still willing to do good and minister healing to us.

Live A Spirit-Filled Life:  "Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit…." (Eph. 5:17-18) We know that God wants us to be continually filled with the Spirit and empowered to be a witness for Christ.

Have A Thankful and Prayerful Disposition: "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thess. 5:16-18) We know it's God's will for us to be joyful, prayerful and thankful—always and in everything. (Not "for" everything—but always and in everything—we can rejoice, pray and give thanks.)

Be A Faithful Servant:  "Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free." (Eph. 6:5-8)  We know that whether we are employees, volunteers or servants in any capacity, it's God's will that we serve as unto the Lord and He will reward us accordingly.

Do Good: "For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men…." (1 Peter 2:15) We know that when we walk in love and truth and do good—it silences those who are ignorant and foolish.

Like Jesus, our nourishment is to do the will of our Father and to finish His work. When we focus on the things above—that we know are His will—we are nourished and energized for life.

Say It: "Father, my nourishment is to do Your will. Help me to focus on the things that are indeed Your will and I know that I will be nourished and energized. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
