Seek, Inquire, Crave

Beth Jones

"Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are they who keep His testimonies, and who seek,
inquire for and of Him and crave Him with the whole heart."
Psalm 119:2, AMPC

Who gets to be blessed, happy, fortunate and to be envied? Those who seek, inquire for and of the Lord and those who crave Him with their whole heart.

The Lord loves it when we seek Him. So much so, that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. I wonder why?I believe it’s because the Lord is not looking for people who are apathetic or who feel obligated to be religious or dutifully Christian; but rather, He's delighted when people seek Him with their own free will!

The Lord loves it when we inquire of and for Him. Probably because it lets Him know that we are truly dependent on His wisdom and help. When we inquire of the Lord, it indicates that we realize our own limitations and the incredible privilege we have to seek wisdom and guidance from the God who knows all things – past, present and future.

The Lord loves it when we crave Him. When our spiritual taste buds won't be satisfied until we taste God and His reality in our lives. There is something about a craving – it's a longing, an intense desire – something we require! Does the Lord reward our craving because, like any good parent, He enjoys being loved by His children and He loves to satisfy our desires?

One thing we know – God likes to be pursued and He likes to pursue us with His blessings! So, are we ready to chase God? Seek Him? Inquire of and for Him? Crave Him? Ready to pick up the pace in talking to the Lord? In our prayer and worship life? In listening to the Lord? In reading His Word?

If we will go after God with our whole heart, we will find Him! The result? Our life will be full of Him, His Word, His love, His peace, His joy, His wisdom, His kindness, His compassion and so much more! And - we will be blessed, happy, fortunate and to be envied!

Say This: "Father, I seek You with my whole heart. I want Your Presence and reality in my life to a greater degree. I inquire for and of You, Lord. I want Your wisdom, direction and insights as I make decisions in every area of my life. I crave You. Jesus, I have an intense desire to know You more intimately and more personally. I thank You that You reward those who diligently pursue You with a life that is: blessed, happy, fortunate and to be envied. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
