Best Supporting Actor

Jennifer Cole

“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities...And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?” Luke 16:10-12, NLT

Many people want their own business or ministry, but they forget that it starts with being faithful in another person’s business and ministry. Being faithful in another person’s means that we realize it IS another person’s – it’s not ours. We are stewards and called to help their business prosper or help their ministry grow and increase. They are the lead actor and we are the supporting actor, crew member or stage “extra” - and we are to be pure in our motives and actions to help another succeed and not try to shine the spotlight on ourselves instead.

To be faithful in another person’s, we must not look to our own interests or personal gain. We must know we are there to sow - trusting that one day the Lord will cause us to reap. And fast forward into the future - when you do lead your own business or ministry, won’t you want a crew full of supporting actors with pure motives helping you too?

So, wherever the Lord has you right now, invest all of your God-given gifts and talents to faithfully help grow the business or ministry you’re in. Do so with all your heart, and trust that if God has given you a vision and desire to lead your own business or ministry at some point, He will be the one to make that possible. God is watching - and when He counts you faithful, He will promote you!

Say This: “Father, I want to be found faithful – in all the little things of everyday life and in helping to grow other people’s businesses or ministries with pure motives and sincere actions. Help me to do a more excellent job in this and I trust you, Lord, that in due season - as You count me faithful - You will promote me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
