This Makes You Attractive

Jennifer Cole

“But a generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand.” Isaiah 32:8, NKJV

Generosity is SUCH an attractive quality in a person. Generous people give, lend, support, help -- and don’t expect anything in return. They hold on to the things of this world loosely because they know it’s just “stuff.” They care more about people than things. Isn’t it so refreshing and uplifting to be around people like this?

Let me share one practical life lesson I learned at an early age about how to be a generous person: If someone lets you borrow something, you always return it in better condition than when it was when they gave it to you. For example, when someone lets you borrow their car -- even if it’s just for a 10 mile drive -- before you return it, you take it through the car wash and fill up the gas tank -- and not just to replenish the gas you used, but you fill that bad boy to the full, until the gas pump clicks, then you squeeze just a little extra in.

It’s worth noting that it’s about so much more than just a “random act” of generosity here and there...truly impactful generosity is where it becomes your lifestyle -- it’s just how you are, it’s just what you do! Those with a generous lifestyle -- also called a generous spirit -- go above and beyond the call, give more than what is expected and are always open-handed because they know that everything they have belongs to God anyway. They also proactively seek out ways to be generous to others! And I’m not just talking about money here, people -- generosity is also in giving of your time, attention, compliments, cupcakes, clothes, phone calls and more.

Want to be the attractive person that everyone enjoys being around? With God’s help, make generosity a way of life and you will be -- and in turn, you’ll be so blessed to be a blessing!!

Say This: “Father, thank You so much for everything You’ve given me in this life -- I ask You to help me be a good steward of my time, finances, attention and more. Help me to make generosity a way of life, so that I’m blessed to be a blessing. Show me ways I can help and give to others in an above-and-beyond way that brings glory and praise to You! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
