The Power Of Not Yet

Beth Jones

“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24

Can I make a confession? It is February...and my Christmas tree is still up. Yes, you read that correctly. We just passed Valentine’s Day and my Christmas tree is still sitting right in the middle of my sunroom. Why? Mostly, because we were out of town for the better part of January...but I’ve decided to just embrace the power of “not yet.” I have “not yet” had time to take my Christmas tree down - maybe this weekend!

Anyways, why am I telling you all of this? On today’s podcast, I share a Basic Thought: How To Let It Go as a follow up to my last podcast where I interviewed Pastor Donna Pisani, the author of “The Power Of Not Yet.”

What’s the connection? So many of us find ourselves in seasons of “not yet,” which sometimes turn into seasons of “letting it go.” Today, I wanted to share our story of pioneering a church (together with my husband Jeff), how we had to let that dream go big time during a season of “not yet” and how God resurrected it in His time.

I hope our experience will encourage you if you find yourself in that season of not yet, waiting for a dream or desire to be fulfilled. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to completely let it go, like a kernel of wheat that falls into the ground and dies as Jesus talked about in John chapter 12. It doesn’t sound fun - in fact, it’s not fun - but it may be just the thing you need to hear today.

You can find The Basics With Beth podcast on our website or subscribe on iTunes.

And, if you do find yourself in a season of letting it go, just remember, the Lord is good. He loves you - and His plans are to give you a hope and a future! We can trust him with our dreams and desires today and always. He’s got your back.

Say This: “Father, thank you that your timing is perfect. Thank you for giving me dreams and desires and helping me navigate the seasons of ‘not yet” or “letting go” with grace. I choose to trust you always! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
