Taste And See

Beth Jones

"O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him." Psalm 34:8, AMPC

The Lord is good all the time! He's the same yesterday, today and forever! He is the God that changes not. He is good and His intentions toward us are always for our good! We may not always understand everything, but we can rest in the fact that the Lord is good. We can have confidence that as we walk in the light of His Word, He will always bring us through any trial, challenge or battle we face into a good land.

Be advised – many voices will try to convince you otherwise. Often – the enemy, our own thoughts, circumstances, relationships and life experiences cause us to question God's goodness. When we don't fully understand God's big picture, purposes, timing and kingdom laws, we sometimes drift around in a sea of confusion regarding God's goodness.

But, the Bible tells us…

God is good all the time.
He is a good Father.
He gives good gifts.
He satisfies us with good things.
His good hand is upon us.
His plans for us are good and not evil.
He wants us to eat the good of the land.
He goes about doing good things and healing all who are oppressed.
He wants us to see good days.
The Lord is good and His mercy endures forever.

If you've not been experiencing God's goodness lately (at least to the degree you believe He desires), Isaiah 1:19 is a great verse to meditate on: "If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land..." Sometimes it is good to take inventory of your life and ask the Lord if there are any areas where you have not been willing or obedient to Him. Be honest with yourself and then make the needed adjustments. He has promised that if we are willing and obedient, we will eat the good of the land!

Say This: "Father, You are a good God! I believe it. You are for me. There may be some things I don't totally understand, but I declare that You are good all the time. Your intentions toward me are for my good. You love me and You have good plans for my life. Help me to understand how to cooperate with You and Your Word so that I am walking and living in Your goodness to a greater degree. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
