Great Salvation (Part 2)
Beth Jones
"How shall we escape [appropriate retribution] if we neglect and refuse to pay attention to such a great salvation [as is now offered to us, letting it drift past us forever]?" Hebrews 2:3, AMP
Yesterday, we discovered that if we believe God, His Word and give attention to the salvation Jesus purchased for us -- we will experience the greatness of our salvation! (If you missed yesterday’s devo, I encourage you to go back and take a look!)
So, just how great is our salvation?
Some people think to be “saved” simply means that they are saved from their sins and an eternity in hell. Our great salvation certainly does include that – and that is great – but there’s more!
Salvation, by definition, also includes such blessings as divine healing, deliverance, preservation, and more! The word “saved” comes from the Greek word “sozo” and it includes the classic meaning of being forgiven and saved from our sins. It also includes being: rescued, delivered, kept safe, preserved, healed and similar words that refer to being made completely well. We see the Greek word “sozo” being used to describe forgiveness, healing and preservation throughout the New Testament.
Today, let’s not neglect or drift from the Lord and our great salvation. If you need the power of God for salvation to be manifested in your life in any area – go ahead – believe and receive it! Then, let’s share the good news of this great salvation with everyone in our sphere of influence!
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, 'The just shall live by faith.'" (Romans 1:16-17, NKJV)
Say This: Father I thank you for my great salvation that Jesus purchased – the forgiveness of my sins, being rescued, delivered, kept safe, preserved and healed from anything that would come against my life. Today, I receive it and believe it! In Jesus’ Name. Amen."
