Guilt Ridden

Beth Jones

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9, NKJV

This is a simple reminder -- God is faithful and just to forgive our sins! We know it in our heads, but often we forget this in our hearts and we end up living "guilt ridden" lives.

Listen, God is not interested in holding things against you. He's on your side. He's not mad at you; in fact, quite the opposite. Remember these Scriptures? "For God so loved the world…," "…while we were yet sinners Christ died for us," "…if God is for you who can be against you?" If Jesus loved us enough to die for us when we were heathen sinners, how much more does He love us when we are believers who simply make mistakes? When you blow it, don't run from the Lord – run straight to Him!

Guilt and condemnation are two of the enemy's main tools for defeating Christians. If he can keep us feeling inferior and guilty, he robs us of the confidence and victory the Lord wants us to walk in through Christ. Don't fall for the devil's trap. If you've messed up, then confess your sins to the Lord and choose obedience next time. He is faithful and just to forgive you!

Today, get a fresh grip on freedom from the guilt, condemnation and shame! As as a Christian, you can walk in the victory and liberty that comes through knowing you have been cleansed and made righteous in Christ!

Say This: "Father, I thank You for your mercy! I confess my sins to You today and I thank You for forgiving me and for cleansing me from all unrighteousness. I am not going to let guilt and condemnation dominate me because You paid an incredibly high price to set me free. I am so thankful that You have made me the "righteousness of God in Christ." As I move forward, help me, Lord, to live my life in a way that pleases You. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
