Stay In The Game
Jennifer Cole
"I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me…" Acts 20:24, NIV
What's the difference between a starter and a finisher? A lot!
Sometimes I think about what it will be like to finish my race on earth and stand before the Lord. It's hard to imagine what it will be like. I think I will cry. Then…I think I will stare at Jesus to see what He really looks like and then I will probably look for Eve – to tell her I forgive her. :) Then, I will…who knows?! Dance, laugh, sing, explore heaven, check out my mansion, have an americano with Abraham and the Apostle Paul? Regardless - it's gonna be great!
The finish line will be wonderful, but for now, I just want to run my race and complete the assignments God's given to me! How about you? What is it that keeps us in the game and strong to the end? You know people just like I do, who were strong starters when they began their Christian life and relationship with Jesus. But, today – where are they? Many who have started – quit. Many who started strong – got weary. Many who began – will not finish.
I think the thing that keeps us in the game and filled with joy is the CONNECTION we have with the Lord. If running the race is a religious duty – we'll drop out. If it's obligatory – we'll get tired. But, if we have a real, dynamic, present-tense personal relationship with the Lord and we know, that we know, that we know, Him – then He gives us the staying power that we need to find endurance, stamina, joy and strength to complete our God-given purpose!
Need a booster shot for your race today? You started strong and through a renewed personal connection with the Lord, you can finish strong!
Say This: "Father, I plan to run my race and finish my course with joy! I want to fulfill the purpose that You intended for my life. Thank You for Your help in getting me started; today I ask You for an extra “boost” in my personal relationship with You so that I stay in the game and finish strong. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
