Facing A Decision?
Jennifer Cole
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12, NKJV
So, you’ve got a big decision to make. What are some ways you could figure out what to do? You could follow logic, reason, pros and cons, your friends’ advice, past experience, or your feelings and circumstances. BUT...ultimately there is only one truly safe guide that helps us know what to do - and that is God’s Word!
Why do we need to consult God’s Word for the direction to take, rather than figuring it all out within our own five senses? Sometimes, our soul (our mind, emotions and will) may want one thing while in our spirit (our heart, the real us inside), we sense that God wants something else for us. At times we can't discern God's voice in our spirit because our soul is screaming so loud! That’s why we’ve got to rely on the only way to divide between soul and spirit - spending time in the Word.
So, whatever decisions we face, let’s not be people who just go with logic and reason on our own - let’s get into the Word and trust God to give us understanding and direction on what the best next step is! God will speak to you through His Word, and He will give you the precise direction you need. He will let you know what choice to make, and He will give you the grace you need to follow through. The Lord has your best interest in mind, so you can rest in knowing that following His Word is the wisest and safest thing to do!
Say This: "Father, I thank You for Your Word. I am facing some decisions and I need to hear from You. I thank You that Your Word is a safe guide and a reliable divider. Help me to spend extra time in Your Word so I can hear Your voice. I will choose to follow You as I make choices, knowing that You always have my best interest in mind. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
