A Deep Breath

Jennifer Cole

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think He’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do His best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way He works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how He works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Matthew 6:30-33 MSG

Today, my encouragement to you is simple -- pause right now, wherever you are, whatever you’re doing -- and take a deep breath.

Read the verse above, and then read it again out loud. Read it a third time, out loud again, but this time put your name in it anywhere it says “you.” Make it personal! This is God’s Word, living and active, breathing fresh wind into your life today.

Feel the rest and peace that comes from knowing that He is caring for you! Keep this reality tucked into your heart and see what a difference it will make in your day.

Say This: "Father, thank You for loving me so completely -- for attending to me, taking pride in me and doing Your best for me. Help me to put You first in everything I do today, and I trust You to meet all of my everyday human concerns. You love me, and You are well able to take care of all of my needs! In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

What Are Angels Doing?

Jennifer Cole

"The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them." Psalm 34:7, NKJV

I love this truth! There is an invisible kingdom – all around us – and angels are realities in the unseen world. And, isn’t it cool that God has specifically assigned angels to protect those who fear Him? Despite memes you may have seen, angels are not sitting on clouds, strumming harps all day! So what are they doing? Let's take a look at three encouraging things the Bible tells us about angels:

Angels Protect Us: God has commanded His angels to protect us. "For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go." (Psalm 91:11, NLT) What a comfort! No matter where you go, you are surrounded by angels!

Angels Serve Those Who Are Saved: God has sent His angels to serve those who have accepted the free gift of salvation. How great is that? "...Angels are only servants – spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation." (Hebrews 1:14, NLT) They help us carry out God's will in our lives!

Angels Respond To God’s Word: God's Word is living and active, and angels are “dispatched” into action by the sound of God's Word. "Praise the LORD, you His angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey His word." (Psalm 103:20, NIV) So, when we speak God’s Word out in faith – angels obey His Word and jump to action!

Today, be encouraged – as a Christ follower, you have the special benefit of God's army of angels performing God's Word, protecting and caring for you! Wow!

Say This: "Father, I thank You that the angels of the Lord protect me and my loved ones wherever we go. I thank You that Your angels are sent to minister and care for me. And, I thank You that Your Word is living and active, and that angels go into action as soon as they hear Your Word. I believe that angels are on assignment to care for me today! In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Strong Tower

Beth Jones

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." Proverbs 18:10, NKJV

Need a safe place? A place of refuge? Strength? The Name of the Lord is a strong tower…and this Scripture tells us to run to it!

Though the enemy may roar, the storms may blow, the waves may rage, the winds may howl, the earth may shake – still the Name of Jesus is our safe place! His Name is the name above every name. Jesus is the Name at which everything else bows.

If fear, anxiety, distress, depression or other things are trying to harass you – run to your strong tower and He will lift you up, high above it all! The Amplified Bible gives us a more "amplified" understanding of this verse: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong."

Be encouraged today - the name of the Lord is a strong tower!

Say This: "Father, I run to You today. I run right into the Name of Jesus, my strong tower! I declare that I am safe, free from the enemy, storms, fear, anxieties and distress. Jesus is the Name above all Names and I thank You for lifting me up to a safe and strong place, high above all evil. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Fearless

Beth Jones

"I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Psalm 34:4, NKJV

Need freedom from nerves? Anxiety? Panic? Fear? Good news…God wants you to be free!

We live in a society where more and more people are dealing with anxiety issues. Fear of the future, terrorists, safety, cost of living, sickness, disease, death and a host of other things keep people locked up in debilitating little prisons.

Fear is a tactic of the enemy. If fear has tried to dominate your life, direct your decisions or paralyze your progress, be encouraged! God has promised to deliver us from ALL our fears! Jesus said, "Fear not!" more than 300 times; so it's obviously God's will that we live a fearless life!

What fears have been harassing you? Fear of failure? People? Success? Speaking? Flying? Spiders? Loss? Commitment? Many people live life based on their fears. They let fear dictate what they will do, not do, where they go, not go and how they will get there or not get there. God has something better for you…a life lived by faith!

God leads us by faith, not by fear. He is not the author of fear. He never motivates us through the type of fear that brings anxiety. If fear has been trying to control your life, you can be free!

Meditate on this verse of Scripture above and seek the Lord. As you spend time reading the Bible and talking to Him about His power to deliver you from fear, He will give you divine peace, faith, strategies and confidence to overcome every fear! When we seek Him, He promises to hear us and He promises to deliver us from ALL our fears!

Say This: "Father, I seek You and Your power and wisdom! I am so glad that You hear me. Today, I declare that You deliver me from ALL my fears. I am not going to live a life dictated by fear; I am going to live by faith. Jesus is the Lord of my life, not fear! In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Peace Rules

Beth Jones

"…let the peace of God rule in your hearts…." Colossians 3:15, NKJV

Is your heart troubled? Anxious? Agitated? Let peace rule today. Jesus told us we could.

Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27, NKJV

Unfortunately, for many people, living in strife, anxiety, agitation and fear is a way of life. Peace is the oddity. Jesus wants to turn that around in your life. The ability to live in peace can be a way of life. In fact, we can get so used to living in peace – it's an oddity to experience anxiety, a troubled heart, strife or fear.

Sometimes, we'll have to "force" ourselves to surrender to peace. We have to choose to "let peace rule" – because at times our minds are filled with fear, overload, frustration and any number of "peace robbers."

Peace comes from keeping our minds on the Lord and His Word. "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." Isaiah 26:3, NKJV

If you need Jesus' peace to rule your heart today, set your mind on Him. Don't allow any thought that is contrary to His character and His Word to have any place in your mind. The result? God's perfect peace will rule!

Say This: "Father, thank You for perfect peace. I choose to surrender all of my anxious, fear-filled, agitating thoughts to You right now. I fix my mind on Jesus. You are good, You can be trusted, and You are bigger than anything I am facing. Peace…rule my heart! In Jesus' Name. Amen."
