don't let life's pace run you over.

Jennifer Cole

When you think of the word “grace,” what comes to mind? I know for me, the word “grace” was kind of foggy at first. I could tell that grace was a good thing, that it was desirable and positive. But, it was hard to put my thumb on just what it meant and how to apply it to my life -- and don’t even ask me to explain it to someone else back then! Ha!

But at some point along my journey I got the revelation knowledge of what grace truly is...and WOW it’s a big deal! And did I tell’s FREE! The basic truth we’re diving into today is that grace is not just a warm-fuzzy or feel-good word. It’s not good vibes or positive thoughts. Grace is actually a tangible deposit of God’s ability and strength into your life!

>>Did you catch that? It’s HIS ability and strength, freely given to YOU!

It’s no wonder that in Romans 5:17 we read: “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” So there’s a direct tie here between receiving an abundance of grace and reigning in life. God’s desire for us is to reign in life, not to be run over by life!

The question for all of us today you feel like you’re reigning in life? Or does it feel like you’re living “one nostril above water?” Stressed out, maxed out, burned out, you name it. None of those describes the type of lifestyle God desires for you! It’s true that in this day-and-age, there’s no shortage of things that will try to command your attention and fill your schedule. There’s work, raising children, going to school, travel, phone calls, paying bills, eating and sleeping, Facebook, Zumba class, grocery shopping, walking the dog...I mean, isn’t it easy to see how quickly you could feel overwhelmed? That’s why it’s absolutely essential that you obtain God’s grace for the pace!

God’s grace in your life is like great ropes that hold a ship together through a storm. When everything around you is falling apart, the waves are crashing and wind is beating down on you, it’s God’s grace -- those incredibly strong, tough, supernatural ropes -- that keep you in tact. And in calm waters, it’s the grease for the motor that helps you cruise forward with ease and joy!

I want to encourage you today -- if you’re feeling run over, out of steam or at the end of your rope...then right now RUN, don’t walk, to the Throne of Grace to obtain supernatural deposits of His ability and strength! Simply ASK the Lord for extra grace for the pace. Obtaining grace deposits into your life is an active process -- it’s something you need to ask for, seek, require and grab hold of. So don’t wait...access the grace He has for you today and every day -- just ask and receive!

Say This: “Father, thank You that I can approach Your Throne of Grace at any time and ask for extra grace for the pace! Thank You that You are depositing Your ability and strength into my life, helping me to reign in life, to enlarge my capacity and to fulfill all that You’ve called me to do in this life. Today I ask You for extra measures of grace, and I thank You for it! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

these 2 words explain everything.

Jennifer Cole

I want to share a secret with you today. A secret I learned that totally unlocked the Bible for me many years ago. Here it is: there are 2 words that are seen throughout the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and they help explain everything. What are they?

>> LIFE and DEATH.

We need to understand the effects and evidence of each, to truly see the kind of life God wants for us. God’s plan is and always has been LIFE. The Garden of Eden was such a picture of life...the most beautiful, lush garden, flowing with abundance and vibrant beyond measure. And God’s original plan for mankind was life. God did not author death and never wanted death to be a part of our human experience!

Now, when mankind with our free will chose to do things our own way -- starting with the original sin in the Garden of Eden -- DEATH entered the scene. Suddenly there was an opposing force to all of that incredible life that God has designed. I’m not just talking about death as in the “end of life in your body,” although that certainly is part of it. It’s important that we see the 3 key ways that death became part of the picture.

First, a spiritual death happened -- mankind became separated from God. Gone were the blissful days Adam had enjoyed of walking through the Garden alongside the Lord, enjoying the sunshine and breeze. Because of sin, we could no longer connect directly with God. (Thankfully...God had a redemption plan already set into motion...Jesus died on the cross for us to reconcile us with the Father so that an intimate relationship with Him could be restored...thank you, Jesus!!)

Secondly, death brought sickness and disease, and brought poverty and lack. God’s design for us -- His perfect will for us -- does not include illness, nor does it include lacking any good thing. Can you see now how much the arrival of death onto the scene caused our experience of life on earth to change dramatically?

But the story doesn’t end there...thankfully Jesus came to redeem us FROM death TO life! He not only rescued us from all of these effects of death...but He redeemed us to something...He redeemed us TO life! Through Jesus becoming our personal Lord and Savior, we get to experience quantitative life...we get to live forever with Him, for all eternity! But He also gives us all the promises and provisions we need to experience qualitative have and enjoy an abundant life while we’re on this earth.

From the origins of everything we know (Genesis) to present day, and ultimately through all of eternity, the 2 words DEATH and LIFE play a significant role. Read through your Bible with those 2 words in mind now -- and you’ll start to see in fresh new ways how death tries to enter each situation, but Jesus always combats it with life.

I don’t know about y’all, but I don’t want to miss a single thing He paid for me to have! I want to enjoy my life in Christ and also live my life for Christ! So today I encourage you, don’t get shaken up by whatever’s happening around you but rather get stirred up in the basic truth that God has LIFE for you!

Say This: “Father, thank You that Your plan for me was and always will be LIFE! I believe that means both quantitative life so I can live with You for all eternity in Heaven...but also qualitative life so I can enjoy life here on earth and live my life for You! Please help me to understand, through knowledge and personal experience, all of the aspects of LIFE that you have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

don't get stuck going in circles.

Jennifer Cole

Picture this. You’ve got all four kids in the minivan, bags are packed, the sun is shining and you’re heading out on what should be a terrific family vacation. You start out by driving 5 miles north, but then you turn around and head 5 miles south.  Then you travel 5 miles north again, followed by 5 miles south. Yikes. You’re really not getting anywhere, are you?

The truth is our words are just like that. Our words map out the route we’re traveling. If our words are positive and aligned with God’s Word -- His Truth -- then we head one direction. But if we’re then speaking negative words that are aligned with our feelings, opinions or even sometimes the facts of a situation, it sends us right back the other direction. A lifetime of that pattern will leave you feeling like you’re getting nowhere and certainly won’t help you live a life you love -- that’s just not how this works!

In Proverbs 18:21 we see that: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” God wants us to choose life! He wants us to speak words of life. To speak words that cause our life to route along the most blessed, prosperous, abundant and joy-filled path. So what’s the secret here? What kind of words do that for us? Words that align with God’s Word!

For instance, the Bible says He surrounds and protects us (Psalm 91:11, Psalm 32:7) -- so speaking that truth enables your life to head in the right direction. On the other hand, speaking about being afraid, fearful and scared all the time causes you to head the other direction. As another example, God’s Word says that by His stripes you are healed (1 Peter 2:24). So, choose to speak words about His healing power being active in your life, not about how you’re incurable or going to die young. You can’t speak both words of life and words of death and expect to get anywhere in life! You’ll just go in circles and be frustrated and discouraged.

Does this mean we’re ignoring the “facts” as situations or storms arise in life? Nope! What it does mean is acknowledging that there is a higher truth that trumps all facts -- it’s God’s Truth from His Word! You can admit “hey, I got a bad doctor’s report today” or “wow, I’m still living paycheck to paycheck.” But don’t make that your daily confession -- instead, seek out what God’s Truth says about that area of your life by reading your Bible -- and then speak the Word! And keep reading His Word and keep speaking His Truth...over and over, as a way of life...and your life will keep heading along the very best path for you!

So today, I encourage you to choose God’s Word as your ultimate road map and speak words of life over every area of your life. Keep doing that, and you’ll keep heading the right direction...and you’ll be well on your way to living a life you love!

Say This: “Father, thank You that Your Truth trumps any facts or circumstances. Help me to know what Your Word says about every area of my life, and help me to speak life -- Your Truth -- over and over again. Thank You that the path You have for me is bright and full of blessings, and today I make the choice to align my words with Your Word so that I can walk along the incredible path that You want me to experience. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

God's love is like great coffee.

Jennifer Cole

You may be thinking…”Okay, okay, I know God loves me. I’ve already heard that.” But what if I told you there’s more? There’s more to it. There’s more for you to understand and to experience...and that doing so would be life changing, in all the best ways. Interested?

Think of it this way. Picture yourself making coffee at home. You put some grounds into the filter basket, add water to the machine and after some time percolating, the machine has produced some delicious coffee for you to enjoy. But let me ask you this...are the grounds coffee? Certainly they can become coffee, after steeping in hot water through the process of percolating. But grounds in-and-of themselves aren’t coffee. Your relaxing quiet time doesn’t include sitting down with a book and your favorite mug full of coffee grounds. It’s just not the same thing!

What I want to suggest today is that knowing that God loves you is like having coffee grounds. Yes, it’s a vital part of the process to have the have an awareness of what the Bible says about God’s love for you. But don’t stop there! God wants you to experience -- personally -- His great love for you. He wants you to see His thumbprint all over every area of your life. For you to be so aware of His vast love for you that everywhere you look, you’re seeing His love lavished upon you in both little and big ways.

Certainly we start by reading the Bible verses that confirm that God loves us. (Several are provided below.) That fills our basket full of coffee grounds. But then we need to go through the percolating process to truly manifest those verses into something we can “taste,” enjoy and personally experience.

>>What are some ways we can do this?

First and foremost, make the decision -- the choice -- to accept His love. His unconditional, complete and abundant love for YOU. If you resist or reject the love He has for you, that’s like never putting water in your coffee maker and wondering why you’re never experiencing His love in your life. As an aside -- symptoms of this being true in your life would include a life consistently marked by discouragement, loneliness, bitterness and resentment. Not just due to a bad day here or there, but as an overarching “yea, that describes my life” kind-of-thing. Be encouraged today -- it doesn’t have to be like that anymore! You can and absolutely should make the intentional choice to believe in His love for you!

And secondly, once you’ve made that decision to accept His love for you, look for it. Look for it everywhere, in big things and small things. What might that look like? You get favor at work, getting the promotion you thought you had no chance at. Someone anonymous pays for your meal. That new shirt you were wanting goes on super sale and the one that is left is exactly your size. A friend texts you a note of encouragement out-of-the-blue. Your favorite worship song keeps coming on the radio station. The Basics With Beth TV episode that morning or night seems to speak right to you. (Come on now, y’all!)

Seriously, once you accept His great love for you and are intentional about looking for it -- you will see that it’s all around you, always! God is active. He is constantly pouring out His love for you. He wants you to experience it and to learn more and more each day the incredible height, depth, width and breadth of His love for you. You matter. He knows you. And, He LOVES you.

Say This: “Father, I thank You so much for Your great love for me. I know what the Bible says about Your love for me, but I want that knowledge to transition into experience of Your love for me personally. Today I choose to believe that You mean what You say -- that You love me fully, unconditionally and without bounds! It’s not about what I feel or think, it’s about what Your Word says is true -- so I believe and receive Your love for me! You are actively expressing Your love for me every single day -- Lord, help me to see it more and more as I intentionally look for and acknowledge Your love at work in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
