GO AHEAD AND ASK

Jennifer Cole

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7 NKJV

Sometimes we think that verse is too good to be true. Did God really say to ask for “whatever” and we can have it? Really?

The short answer is, Yes!

But what gives Him full confidence to make such a bold statement? The key is found in the beginning of that verse. That’s where He maps out what the relationship looks like -- the relationship and heart condition in which we can ask for “whatever” and see it come to pass.

God says if we abide in Him, if we have a relationship with Him, if we stay close to Him -- and His Word, the Bible, the Scriptures are living in us -- then we can ask for whatever we desire. Let’s look at John 15:7 in a couple other translations to see how He describes this relationship:

If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. (AMP)

But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you – then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done. (TPT)

Also notice this verse doesn’t say to ask for whatever God desires. It truly says whatever WE desire! But again, how is that possible…

>>Here’s the basic truth: God knows that if we are abiding in Him, and His Words are abiding in us, then He knows that our desires will be congruent with His will.

So if that’s you today -- you have a personal relationship with the Lord and His Words are living and active in your heart and life -- then ask for “whatever” and watch and see what the Lord can do in your life!

Say This: “Father, thank You for Your love, generosity and care for me. I ask You to please help me grow in my relationship with You every day and help me to learn and live by Your Word. I trust that as I enjoy a close relationship with You and live by Your Word, I may ask for ‘whatever’ and know You’re bringing it to pass! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

WHY DID HE ASK FOR WISDOM?

Jennifer Cole

Have you ever wondered why Solomon asked God for wisdom? Do you remember the story...God said to ask Him for ANYTHING...and Solomon asks for wisdom? How many of us feel like we maybe wouldn’t have had as “holy” a request? Let’s see if we can find clues as to why he did this, as we revisit the story from 1 Kings 3:5-14 NLT --

“That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, ‘What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!’ Solomon replied…’Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?’

The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. So God replied, ‘Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies—I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life! And if you follow me and obey my decrees and my commands as your father, David, did, I will give you a long life.’”

It doesn’t seem like Solomon asked for wisdom because he wanted to sound holy or was trying to impress God. He didn’t ask for wisdom when he secretly wanted to ask for that new Mercedes instead. Rather -- he had discovered that wisdom is foundational for being successful in all areas of life! If wisdom is knowing what to do and when to do it -- if it’s being able to discern truth and make correct decisions -- then wisdom truly has tremendous value!

He wanted to do a great job serving the people God had entrusted to him -- he wanted to be filled with wisdom from the Lord to be a great leader. God loved Solomon’s priorities and his heart in asking for this -- and then God went ahead and blessed him with everything else! Wow!

Let’s be people who seek after wisdom too -- we all need wisdom from the Lord to serve others and do the best we can at whatever we’re called to do! Here’s a great promise to stand on as we pray for wisdom: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” James 1:5 NIV. Let’s pray and ask the Lord today for more wisdom!

Say This: “Father, thank You that Your Word says I can ask for wisdom and You’ll generously supply it to me -- Lord, I ask for wisdom! Help me to serve and lead those in my life with Your wisdom, and fill me with wisdom to do the tasks You’ve called me to do with excellence, discernment and joy! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

ASK BIG!

Jennifer Cole

God has a LOT to say in the Bible about asking! But why? After all...hasn’t He already paid for all of the blessings and provisions in your life? Yes. Hasn’t He promised you that whatever you pray for (in accordance with the Word) He will give you? Yes. Doesn’t He already know what you need? Yes.

>>But friends, there’s something huge about ASKING. Don’t miss this!

The Bible says: “...you do not have because you do not ask” (James 4:2 NKJV). That oughta stir all of us up! What are some examples of BIG things to ask for?

How about the salvation of your entire family? Ask! We know it’s not His will that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). When we ask in agreement with His Word, He hears and goes to work. Also, ask the Lord to use you! Make yourself available to be used in whatever way He sees fit to reach your family, and others. Pray big!

How about praying out the dreams in your heart? Have you asked for doors to be opened, to be in the right place at the right time, for favor and grace? For God to take the seemingly impossible and make it possible? Ask big!

James 1 tells us that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights! None of us want to find out when we get to Heaven that God had all kinds of presents ready to come down for us, but we never asked for them! Ask! He wants to bless you, prosper you, and help you succeed -- for your enjoyment and so you can be a blessing to others! Today, make a decision to focus on asking BIG...and watch and see what the Lord will do in and through your life!

Say This: “Father, thank You that everything I ask in accordance with Your Word, You provide! Lord, with faith that nothing is impossible for You, today I ask for ________. (Ask for BIG things here!) And I ask You, Lord, for the salvation of all my friends and family. Use me, Lord, to reach others for Christ. Thank You that I am blessed to be a blessing. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

IT'S ALL GOOD

Jennifer Cole

When the waves of a life storm come crashing through, it can be all too easy to feel swept up in them. But friends, let me encourage you today -- lift up your eyes, focus on Jesus and saturate your heart with what He says about you! Below are several faith statements and the Scriptures they’re based on...to get you stirred up in the HOPE and LOVE that He has for you!

>> I encourage you to speak these out loud and make them part of your daily life. You’ll be amazed at how much this will encourage you!

He always causes me to triumph in Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:14)

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! (Philippians 4:13)

I am an overcomer -- and I am more than a conqueror -- through faith. (Romans 8:37)

I am surrounded with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12)

No good thing would He withhold from me! (Psalm 84:11)

If God is for me, who can be against me? (Romans 8:31)

By His stripes, I am healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

Be encouraged y’all...be encouraged! God is good, and He’s good all the time. His Word is living and active, so speak it aloud as often as possible...doing so will increase your faith and send the Word to fulfill what God wants for your life!

Say This: “Father, thank You for Your Word and the encouragement I receive from it as I speak it and believe it. Thank You for blessing me, caring for me and loving me. I choose to keep my eyes on You and what Your Word says about me...so I can live the victorious, faith-filled Christian life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

YOU WERE MADE FOR THIS

Jennifer Cole

Did you know...God has a lot to say about your life? Check this out…

In Psalm 139 He says that YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made.

In Jeremiah 29:11 He says He has good plans for YOUR life, plans to prosper you and not to harm you.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 He says His grace is sufficient for YOU, and His power is made perfect in your weakness.

In James 1:17 He says the gifts He gives YOU are good and perfect.

In Matthew 11:28 He says you can come to Him with heavy burdens and He’ll give YOU rest.

In Philippians 4:13 He says YOU can do all things through His strength.

>>Wherever you are or whatever you find yourself facing today, you can remain confident that YOU were made for THIS.

I pray that you’ll be encouraged today -- whatever “this” is in your life...He’s got you.

Say This: “Father, thank You that You have my back, You believe in me, and You have great things in store for me. Lord, I ask You to be the Lord of my life, and I choose to follow Your Word and seek after Your wisdom. Thank You that there’s nothing I’ll ever face alone -- You’ll always be with me, helping and strengthening me! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
