“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7 NKJV
Sometimes we think that verse is too good to be true. Did God really say to ask for “whatever” and we can have it? Really?
The short answer is, Yes!
But what gives Him full confidence to make such a bold statement? The key is found in the beginning of that verse. That’s where He maps out what the relationship looks like -- the relationship and heart condition in which we can ask for “whatever” and see it come to pass.
God says if we abide in Him, if we have a relationship with Him, if we stay close to Him -- and His Word, the Bible, the Scriptures are living in us -- then we can ask for whatever we desire. Let’s look at John 15:7 in a couple other translations to see how He describes this relationship:
If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. (AMP)
But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you – then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done. (TPT)
Also notice this verse doesn’t say to ask for whatever God desires. It truly says whatever WE desire! But again, how is that possible…
>>Here’s the basic truth: God knows that if we are abiding in Him, and His Words are abiding in us, then He knows that our desires will be congruent with His will.
So if that’s you today -- you have a personal relationship with the Lord and His Words are living and active in your heart and life -- then ask for “whatever” and watch and see what the Lord can do in your life!
Say This: “Father, thank You for Your love, generosity and care for me. I ask You to please help me grow in my relationship with You every day and help me to learn and live by Your Word. I trust that as I enjoy a close relationship with You and live by Your Word, I may ask for ‘whatever’ and know You’re bringing it to pass! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7 NKJV
Did you know...when God gives you promises, you can take those to the bank! You can stand on His promises, and through faith you can activate them in your life.
When you make the Bible your plumbline...the basis for how you live your life...He will break chains in your life, not His promises. We’ve seen throughout history and still today that He is faithful to perform His Word. For example, in Joshua 21:45 NLT we see: “Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.”
Take some time to dig into your Bible today -- find out what promises He has for you. Don’t leave any of His gifts to you unwrapped!
Say This: “Father, thank You that Your Word is full of Your promises. Help me to make Bible reading time a priority and help me to learn about all of the promises You have in store for me. I don’t want to miss out on any of the promises You’ve prepared for me, and I’m so grateful for all of these blessings! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
What dreams has the Lord put in your heart? What purpose have you been too scared to pursue? What mountain seems too high to climb, what vision seems too far out of reach? In a world full of reasons “why not”...today I want to encourage you on why you absolutely should go for it!
Friends, whatever you’re meant to do, do it now. The truth is, it’ll always feel impossible. There is never a “perfect” time so stop waiting for that! Too much time and opportunity can pass by while you assume you are not ready. Too young. Too old. You’ll be convinced you don’t have enough money or the right connections. Or the know how. The reasons “not to” may seem endless...just fill in the blank!
>>But here’s what you need to know...
Unless the Lord says “stop!” -- Jesus already said “go!” It’s time to go for it! And remember this: “For nothing will be impossible with God” Luke 1:37 ESV.
Y’all, the light is green...take that step of faith!
Say This: “Father, thank You for the dreams You’ve put in my heart. With faith and courage, today I choose to move towards those dreams and ask You to help guide me every step of the way. Thank You that nothing is impossible with You on my side! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
One of the most basic yet life-changing verses in the Bible has to be John 10:10. For sure, the whole Bible has the power to transform our lives, but today I want to dig deeper into this one particular verse. Sometimes we can learn the richness of a specific verse when we marinate our hearts in it...let’s do that today by looking at John 10:10 in several translations.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (NKJV).
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)” (AMPC).
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (NLT).
“A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of” (MSG).
“A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!” (TPT).
Wow! I just love this verse -- in fact, I like to call this verse the Bible’s “litmus test.” It’s a verse we can use to sift things that happen in our life, to determine who’s behind it. If the situation or issue is in any way stealing, killing or destroying things in your life...that may be your health, relationships, prosperity, any number of things...it’s authored by our enemy in life (the devil).
Now, to be clear, it may not always be that the devil is personally attacking you -- we live in a fallen world, so some things that steal or destroy the good in your life are due to the overall fall led by the enemy long ago. But ultimately, anything that steals, kills and destroys in your life is rooted in the enemy’s strategies against you.
>>On the other hand, if something in your life is full of abundance, joy, peace, health, wisdom, satisfaction, fulfillment, contentment and so on, that’s from the Lord!
One other caveat, Jesus told us we would experience tribulations (literally, pressure and stress!) and persecutions in this life because of our faith. He also promised us we could have His joy right in the midst of these things. Even with tribulations and persecutions -- and dealing with the enemy’s plans to steal, kill and destroy -- Jesus’ John 10:10 promise still stands!
Just look at all the ways the translations of John 10:10 phrase this...real life, abundance, enjoying life, better than we dreamed of...sign me up for that!! Jesus paid the ultimate price on the Cross for us...so that we can have real, abundant and eternal life.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, so I pray that as you read John 10:10 multiple times above, your faith was increased! You now have John 10:10 as a powerful tool in your life...it is the ultimate litmus test to be sure you know how to rightly divide situations to know who’s behind it. God has an incredible life in store for you...walk each day with Him and He’ll lead the way!
Say This: “Father, thank You for Your Word -- it’s my guidebook for life. Thank You for John 10:10, which shows me the kind of life that Jesus paid the price for me to have. Help me to follow Your lead every day because I know the life You have in store for me is one of abundance, peace, joy, prosperity, wisdom and so much more! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
Losing your life. Yes, quite possibly the world’s most unpopular answer -- but it’s true! At the very foundation of building a life of purpose, one that leaves an eternal legacy, is choosing to make your life all about Christ, and not about yourself.
Depending on your upbringing or what you may or may not have heard over the years about the Lord...that may be a scary thought. “You’re asking me to lose my life, for Him?” Yes. Not literally, but yes -- in terms of shifting your heart’s attention from things in this world that are temporary and onto things that have lasting impact.
In a culture where many choose to just “do their thing” and do whatever they want to do, this notion of choosing to invest your life into the cause of Christ does not get talked about enough! But friends, the truth is -- living for Him is the only true freedom! When you let Him take the lead in your life, you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. You don’t have to make things happen, you don’t have to know all the answers...rather, you just rest in Him and follow the Holy Spirit’s lead...and He’ll guide you on His perfect path for you. Doesn’t the thought of that just make you want to take a deep breath? It’s so freeing!
When we willingly ask Jesus to be the Lord of our life, we’re asking Him to “take the wheel” as the song goes...but something really significant happens inside of us. We see this in Galatians 2:20, which says: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (NKJV). If you’ve been crucified with Christ, it means the old you is gone -- your spirit has been reborn, and it is Christ who lives in you and equips you for your purpose-filled life!
It’s not scary to let the Lord take the lead when you understand His character -- I encourage each of you to marinate your heart in scriptures about who He is and what He’s like -- the more you get to know Him, the easier it is to give Him all of you and just follow His lead! He loves you, never leaves you, protects you, heals you, forgives you, cherishes you, and He made you -- He knows the very number of hairs on your head.
>>There is no one who loves you more fully, completely and unconditionally than the Lord -- and you can trust Him to lead your life!
When we choose to live for Christ and build a life of purpose, there will be a process we go through...not just once, but probably several times in different seasons of life as we continue to mature in our faith. It’s called the “law of death and resurrection” and simply put, it means that we need to die to our own way of making things happen and let Him fulfill the dreams in our heart His way -- which is always the BEST way!
A great illustration of this principle is found in John 12:24:26, let’s check it out: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor” (NKJV).
I pray that today each of us is even more stirred up to lay down our own life for Christ and follow His lead...His plans lead us in our life of true purpose. In whatever circle of influence you’re in, whatever career, family, city...if you’ll choose to make your life about Him...He’ll not only bless your life but help you impact all those around you for Christ. YOU can have an eternal impact...now that’s something worth investing your life in!
Say This: “Father, I ask You to take my life and consecrate it to You. I choose to submit my way of making things happens, my plans and my striving. Rather, I choose to live for Christ! I ask You to please help me to follow Your lead every day of my life and build a life rich in purpose that impacts those in my world for You. I trust You and know that You’re blessing me beyond measure and helping me to make an eternal difference in the lives of many! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
