New Podcast: Grace For The Pace!

Beth Jones

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16, NLT

We’re back! We took a little break from podcasting over the summer, but I’m super excited to share a new “basic thought” with you! Today’s podcast is all about tapping into God’s standing grace! Who’s with me on wanting more of that?

Through God’s standing grace, we have the ability and strength to stand in life - as a parent, employer or employee, coach, friend, spouse, ministry leader and so much more. As you can already see, this is an important part of succeeding in everything we do, so let’s make sure we are accessing (and not frustrating) God’s grace!

I invite you to join me today as we talk more about grace for the pace on The Basics With Beth podcast!

To listen, find the podcast on iTunes or our website

P.S. We’d love for you to subscribe to the podcast on iTunes if you haven't done so yet!

You Are An Insider

Beth Jones

"Friendship with the LORD is reserved for those who fear Him. With them He shares the secrets of His covenant." Psalm 25:14, NLT

It's really not fair.

Our friendship with the Lord gives us a major advantage! It's true, the Lord reveals secrets to His friends. We are "insiders!" How does He do it?

He gives us the “inside scoop" – inside the Bible that is. God's Word is loaded with wisdom, pathways, maps and all the information we need to live a life of victory and adventure in Christ! Most of us have barely scratched the surface of all that is available to us in Christ – as revealed in the Word. We've relegated the Bible to a list of do's and don'ts, rather than what it really is – a treasure map, a mystery novel, loaded with revelation!

He gives us "inside information" – through the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us! Jesus said a big part of the Holy Spirit's job is to reveal, announce, declare, transmit and tell us everything we need to know! When we meet with God in the "secret place of the Most High" – in prayer and spending time with Him – He reveals all kinds of things to us, He'll tell us things to come, things to anticipate, things to prepare for, things to avoid, things to do, things about our kids, health, purpose and so much more!

You don't need to be in the dark or the "last one to know" about anything that concerns you. Spend some time with the Lord – in the Word and in the secret place of the Most High – and enjoy the benefit of being an insider!

Say This: "Father, thank You for the major advantage You give to Your children. Thank You for inside information on everything I need to know. I ask You to give me ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to receive all You want to reveal to me in Your Word and by Your Spirit. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Strong Tower

Beth Jones

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." Proverbs 18:10, NKJV

Need a safe place? A place of refuge? Strength? The Name of the Lord is a strong tower…and this Scripture tells us to run to it!

Though the enemy may roar, the storms may blow, the waves may rage, the winds may howl, the earth may shake – still the Name of Jesus is our safe place! His Name is the name above every name. Jesus is the Name at which everything else bows.

If fear, anxiety, distress, depression or other things are trying to harass you – run to your strong tower and He will lift you up, high above it all! The Amplified Bible gives us a more "amplified" understanding of this verse: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong."

Be encouraged today - the name of the Lord is a strong tower!

Say This: "Father, I run to You today. I run right into the Name of Jesus, my strong tower! I declare that I am safe, free from the enemy, storms, fear, anxieties and distress. Jesus is the Name above all Names and I thank You for lifting me up to a safe and strong place, high above all evil. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

What Price Is A Soul Worth?

Beth Jones

"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" Matthew 16:26, KJV

What price is a soul worth? These days, people spend so much of their time, energy, mind, strength and life seeking material things. Seeking to outdo their neighbors. Seeking to impress people they don't even care about. Seeking to gain the world. For what purpose? And at what cost?

Gaining the world will cost you – maybe your health, your joy, your peace, your integrity and reputation, your marriage, your family, your relationship with your kids and others. And the biggie -- if you're so busy chasing after the things of this world that you have no time for a relationship with Jesus in your life, it's going to cost you your soul.

But, there is a better way! God's way. By doing things His way and seeking first His kingdom, we end up gaining so much more -- including eternal life! When we quit doing life our own way, we win. "The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it." (Prov. 10:22) When we make our relationship with Jesus and doing things His way a priority, He blesses our lives – He makes us rich in every way – without the need for sorrow, remorse, regret or apology!

Say This: "Father, I ask You for Your mercy and grace to help me get on the right track. I don't want to care more about the things of this world than a relationship with you. I don't want to lose my health, marriage, kids, integrity or relationships and I definitely don't want to lose my soul. Lord, help me to quit doing things my own way. Help me to follow You for the rest of my days. I would rather have Your blessings in my life than all the “things” of the world. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Good God. Bad Devil.

Beth Jones

"…no doubt you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." Acts 10:38, NLT

Just a reminder: God is good. All the time. The devil is bad. All the time.

The devil is in the business of stealing, killing and destroying. He goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, deceive and depress. He's a liar and the father of lies; a thief, murderer and accuser. He's dishing out the spirit of fear, infirmity, bondage and oppression. He's our enemy, adversary and foe. AND, he's been defeated and disarmed!

Jesus is in the business of setting people free from all the oppression of the devil. He went around forgiving sins, speaking the truth, blessing kids, healing the sick, calming storms, performing miracles for those in need and giving abundant life to those who believe in the power of His Name! Jesus was anointed to do good everywhere He went. It's great that Jesus did these things when He was on earth…but it's even better to know that Jesus is still doing these things! He's the same yesterday, TODAY and forever! He's our Savior, Lord and Redeemer!

Be encouraged today. God is good. He's always been good. He's never had a day that He wanted anything but good for you. He gives good gifts. No matter what you are facing, remember His intentions toward you are always for good. Don't let anyone talk you out of knowing the very nature and character of God: goodness!

Remember how God revealed Himself to Moses:
"Then Moses said, 'Now show me your glory.' And the LORD said, 'I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you...' " (Exodus 33:18-19, NIV)

Remember what Jesus said:
"If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7:11, NIV)

Remember what the psalmist said:
"O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him." (Psalm 34:8, AMP)

Say This: "Lord, I believe You are a good God. I am so glad that Jesus still goes about doing good and healing all who are oppressed of the devil. I receive Your goodness today. I ask You to 'show me Your glory' by causing all Your goodness to pass in front of me. Help me to taste and see that You are good. I thank You that goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
