FRAME YOUR WORLD

Jennifer Cole

If you’ve ever built a house or been involved with a construction project, you know how important the frame is. Once the foundation is poured, it’s critical that the framing -- all the beams, posts and studs -- goes up plumb or it will mess up the whole building. Can you imagine how strange a house or building would look with pieces of framing sticking out from a wall or ceiling at random places? A proper frame is absolutely essential. A building without a strong, balanced, well-built frame would be a structural disaster.

>>How much MORE important than this -- is how we frame our very LIVES?

Yes...as believers, our lives are built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. That’s for sure the right starting point! But, it’s important to also pay attention to the “framing” that goes up on that foundation. Just what is the framing for our lives? It’s our words...specifically, lining up our words with His Words.

Let’s see what the Bible has to say about framing…”By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible” (Hebrews 11:3 NKJV).

Just as God used His Words to frame the entire world...we have the ability to frame our world with our words...making sure they align with God’s Words. If we want to live the supernatural, victorious, satisfying Christian life He planned for us, we must line up our mouths with His Word.

What does this look like, practically? When we discover what the Word says about who we are in Christ and what belongs to us in Christ, we must choose to say those things. In doing so, consistently over time, those very words -- based on His Words -- will actually frame our lives!

You can probably see already that in order to use words effectively, we must know the Word! The Bible is loaded with exhortations about the words we speak and their power to frame our lives. Here are a few:

— We eat the fruit of our words. (Proverbs 18:20-21 NKJV)
— We bring forth things with words. (Matthew 12:34-27 NKJV)
— We can turn our whole body around with words. (James 3:3-5 NKJV)
— We move mountains with words. (Mark 11:23 NKJV)

Take some time today to consider...how’s your world being framed? Are things hanging well for you? Are windows and doors opening for you? Do you have a strong, godly structure upon which to build the rest of your life? If you haven’t been framing your world with God’s Word up ‘til now...are you willing to begin?

If you’ll become a student of the Word and spend time filling your heart with His Truth, you’ll become equipped to frame your world by saying what God says about your life -- spirit, soul and body. Start today...and watch God frame your life into the blessed and satisfying life that He has in store for you!

Say This: “Father, help me to learn more of Your Word and to align the words of my mouth with Your Words. May Your Words be what frame my life! Thank You for helping me to make sure the framing in my life is strong, steady and secure -- by aligning my words with Yours. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

DON'T LIVE ON THE STRUGGLE BUS

Jennifer Cole

Sometimes I’m asked “why the basics?” Why am I investing my life into helping people get the basics of faith? Why not dive into “deep” topics instead?

Here’s the truth of the matter...without knowing and applying the Bible basics in life, we’re destined to live life on the struggle bus. That’s why it’s the basics...the fundamental truths from God’s Word...that our enemy in life (the devil) works overtime to keep us from learning and putting into practice.

So what are the Bible basics? Are they trivial, non-essential things that are “beneath” us? Nope! They are the starting point...the essentials...fundamentals...they are pivotal, preliminary, quintessential, key, focal, critical, primary, cardinal and foundational. No matter how long we’ve known the Lord or how many times we’ve read our Bibles -- none of us ever “graduates” from the basics. It’s like the very foundation of your home...everything else in life rests upon how solid that basic foundation is, and continues to be!

>>Think about how important the foundation of your house is. The Bible basics are like that...they’re the very foundation for your LIFE!

The Bible basics are things like how to become a Christian...how to know for sure where you’ll spend eternity...how to know Jesus and hear His voice...how to get answers to prayers...how to use your faith to see results...how to be filled with the Holy Spirit...how to reign in life and lots of other basic things!

Let’s make the choice today to not live on the struggle bus! Rather, let’s invest in growing in our faith through hearing what the Word says on each of the fundamental Bible basics. What could our lives look like by next year, if we made an intentional effort to get to know more and more of the Bible basics...and put them into practice?

Here’s one idea...what if you took one Bible basic per month this year and dove into it? Listened to sermons and podcasts about it, read your Bible to find everything you could on that topic, read books by faith-filled authors and sought the Lord for wisdom on how to apply all of that to your life? Saturate your heart with what the Word says about that Bible basic. I have no doubt it would change your life!

How can I be sure of that? Well, the Bible is not some dusty old book...it’s a living, breathing roadmap for life...what a blessing from the Lord! We see this truth in verses like these:

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 NIV)

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11 NKJV)

The Bible is alive and active...so, even when we read verses we’ve already read before, God will show us layers upon layers of new understanding from those verses and how we can apply it to our lives. And, because the Word always accomplishes and prospers...getting the Word into our hearts is the greatest investment we can make into our lives.

Continuing to grow in the Bible basics is how we get off the struggle bus and take our seat with Christ, to reign in life through the authority He has given us. Let’s get passionate about learning and growing in the basics...make this YOUR year to strengthen the foundation of your life!

Say This: “Father, thank You that as I invest in learning the Bible basics, You help me understand them and build my life upon them. Lord, help me to apply what I learn from Your Word into my life, and thank You for helping to stir up in me the ongoing desire to keep learning and growing as I walk through life with You! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

IT'S ALL GOOD

Jennifer Cole

When the waves of a life storm come crashing through, it can be all too easy to feel swept up in them. But friends, let me encourage you today -- lift up your eyes, focus on Jesus and saturate your heart with what He says about you! Below are several faith statements and the Scriptures they’re based on...to get you stirred up in the HOPE and LOVE that He has for you!

>> I encourage you to speak these out loud and make them part of your daily life. You’ll be amazed at how much this will encourage you!

He always causes me to triumph in Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:14)

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! (Philippians 4:13)

I am an overcomer -- and I am more than a conqueror -- through faith. (Romans 8:37)

I am surrounded with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12)

No good thing would He withhold from me! (Psalm 84:11)

If God is for me, who can be against me? (Romans 8:31)

By His stripes, I am healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

Be encouraged y’all...be encouraged! God is good, and He’s good all the time. His Word is living and active, so speak it aloud as often as possible...doing so will increase your faith and send the Word to fulfill what God wants for your life!

Say This: “Father, thank You for Your Word and the encouragement I receive from it as I speak it and believe it. Thank You for blessing me, caring for me and loving me. I choose to keep my eyes on You and what Your Word says about me...so I can live the victorious, faith-filled Christian life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

BLESSED. FILLED. HEALED.

Jennifer Cole

Today I’m praying this over you, my friends!

BE BLESSED. (3 John 2)
BE FILLED. (Acts 2:4)
BE HEALED. (Psalm 103:1-5)

God has given us so many pathways for experiencing and accessing His blessings, His infilling and His healing power. Below are 11 of my favorite routes...and if you look up the associated Scriptures and get these basic truths in your spirit, they will be game-changers for you!

Be led by the Spirit. (Romans 8:14)
Know and believe the love God has for you. (1 John 4:19)
Rest in Jesus, receive His finished work and yield to His Spirit. (Acts 2)
Employ your faith. (Mark 11:23-24)
Believe God and His Word. (Mark 9:23)
Forgive anyone of anything. (Mark 11:25)
Ask a believer to lay hands on you in Jesus’ name. (Mark 16:17-18)
Ask church leaders to pray and anoint you with oil. (James 5:13-16)
Use wisdom and live in moderation. (Proverbs 3:5-10)
Pray and talk to your parents, your pastor, your doctor and other God-appointed people in your life to seek their wisdom and counsel. (Proverbs 15:22)
Keep your tongue from speaking words contrary to love and faith. (1 Peter 3:10)

Write these out on index cards, tape this up on your mirror, read through the list over your morning coffee each day...do whatever you can do to get these basic -- but life-changing -- truths deep into your heart! As you do so, look out...because being blessed, filled and healed is sure to follow!

Say This: “Father, thank You that Your Word is living and active, and as I intentionally learn the Word and plant it like seeds of life into my heart, You will guide me on the path to being blessed, filled and healed! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

DIGGING IN THE DIRT

Jennifer Cole

Have you ever wondered why a certain area in your life just seems to be barely getting by, not bearing any fruit, or not giving as much out as you’re putting in? Why does it sometimes feel like an area of life, a relationship, a task or goal just fizzles out...despite your best efforts? And, what should you do about it?

Great insights into this can be found in the parable of the barren fig tree. Read it with me in Luke 13:6-9 NKJV: “He also spoke this parable: A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it [a]use up the ground?’ But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.’”

This parable is rich with advice for us! First, it acknowledges that indeed we’ll all have those areas or situations in life where it just seems like all the effort we’re pouring into it just isn’t making a difference. But, in this parable, he doesn’t just chop down the tree after those three years of not bearing fruit...he asks for one more year.

>>The key here is that it wasn’t a year of waiting, hoping and wishing that it would produce more. Nope! It was to be a very intentional year of fertilizing it to see if it’d grow!

He decided to give the tree one more year to become fruitful, and in that year, he was committing to dig around the roots and apply fertilizer. He wanted to see if there was anything he could do, with focus and intentionality, to help give that tree every chance in the world to bear the fruit it was meant to bear.

So what is it in your life? Seek the Lord on what the “tree” might be for you...what are you ready to walk away from, cut down, give up on...but the Lord wants you to give it another year and apply some fertilizer?

Once you’ve identified the “tree” in your life, seek Him for guidance on what the right fertilizer mix is. What does that situation or area of your life need? For sure every area of your life will benefit from more of God’s Word, so double up on that potent fertilizer for your roots! But there may be some other tips and advice the Lord will guide you in to fertilize the specific tree in your life.

Then, give it a bit more time...maybe it is a year, as we saw in the parable...and see what the Lord does in that time as you apply the Word and other fertilizers to the roots of your situation. You may just find that you’re glad you didn’t chop down that tree!

I’m cheering you on, friends, as you seek the Lord on this and follow His leading...may God bless you with loads of new and fresh fruit!

Say This: “Father, help me to see what ‘tree’ in my life I’ve been ready to chop down but You’d like to instead give it some focus, prayer and Word ‘fertilizer’ and let You do more work in that area. Guide me in each step that I take and how I can best nurture that ‘tree.’ I trust You throughout the journey. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
