FOLLOW HIS LEAD

Jennifer Cole

"The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek Him...." Ezra 8:22, KJV

I love this truth -- God's hand is upon us when we seek Him! The good hand of the Lord gives us favor, blessings, strength and goodness.

Years ago, my husband Jeff and I took a ballroom dancing class. It was a lot of fun. One thing we learned in class was that the man always leads the dance with his hand! The woman responds to both the obvious and ever-so-subtle movements of her partner's hand. Ever wondered how those "Dancing with the Stars" people make it look so easy? It's all about following the leader's hand!

In our class, it was my job to follow Jeff's hand in the dance -- to respond. I was not the leader and he reminded me of that numerous times -- after I stepped on his feet! As the leader, he knew the next dance step he had in mind. He knew when he wanted me to "fling me out," spin me around, move me closer to him or sway with the music. I had no idea what he would do next...the only way I could follow him was to pay attention to the pull, push or pressure of his hand moving me in the direction he wanted me to go.

It took a while to get it, but eventually I realized my job was simple: Don't lead -- just relax and follow his hand! In the same way, we are to follow the hand of the Lord. The good hand of the Lord is a picture of God's power, favor and leading.

>>When we quit leading our own lives and relax and follow His hand, He leads the dance and guides us into a faith-filled adventure!

Today, quit trying to be the leading hand -- relax, trust in Him and follow the Lord's hand as He leads you!

Say This: "Father, I am looking forward to learning some new 'dance steps' with You! Help me to recognize and follow Your hand. Thank You for leading me into favor, goodness, blessings – for 'flinging me into the world' as you desire and for spinning my life around as You see fit. I look forward to a fresh faith-filled adventure as I follow the good hand of the Lord. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

WHAT IS GOD LIKE?

Jennifer Cole

"Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation." Colossians 1:15, NLT

Most people have all kinds of ideas about what God is like -- but sometimes those ideas are based on misinformation, human opinion, personal experiences or religious traditions -- rather than being based on a real biblical revelation! What about you? Do you know Him? Fortunately, God is not mysterious or in hiding! He has openly revealed Himself.

>>Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God! If you want to know what God is like, just look at Jesus.

Study the life of Jesus. Listen to His words. Follow His actions. Jesus perfectly revealed the Father God to humanity. When we look at everything Jesus said and did, we get an accurate picture of the character, heart and operations of God Almighty.

We don't ever have to question what God is like -- Jesus revealed Him to us! Jesus said, "…He who has seen Me has seen the Father…" (John 14:9, NKJV)

What did Jesus show us about the Father God?

—Jesus always did good things for people. (Acts 10:38)
—Jesus rebuked religious people who worshiped their traditions more than God Himself. (Mark 7:7-9)
—Jesus always showed mercy to the humble. (Matthew 9:13)
—Jesus healed everyone that came to Him in faith. (Luke 6:19)
—Jesus did miracles for people. (John 2:11)
—Jesus didn't appreciate unbelief. (Matthew 14:31)
—Jesus never condoned sin. (John 8:11)
—Jesus was our example in facing persecution and showed us how to handle it. (Matthew 5:11-12)
—Jesus taught the Word when people had doubts. (Mark 6:6)
—Jesus had compassion on people. (Matthew 9:36)
—Jesus was our substitute in hell. He went there to pay the penalty for our sins -- so we wouldn't have to. (Psalm 16:10)
—Jesus loved and blessed kids. (Matthew 19:14)
—Jesus lived by faith in God's Word and told us to do the same. (Matthew 4:4)
—Jesus always showed up to protect His followers. (Matthew 8:25-28)
—Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and showed us how to live a Spirit-filled life. (Mark 1:10)
—Jesus had more joy than anyone else and showed us it's possible to rejoice always. (Hebrews 1:9)
—Jesus never sent tragedy, calamity or sickness to teach someone a lesson. (John 10:10)
—Jesus always turned impossible situations into possibilities. (Matthew 19:26)
—Jesus loved sinners. (Luke 7:34)

Jesus revealed God to us. God is not the unpredictable, harsh, angry ogre many people have made Him out to be. God doesn't send evil to teach, humble or get the attention of His children. God is not mysterious. All of His intentions toward His people are and have always been full of mercy, compassion, patience, graciousness, faithfulness and truth. He has given us His Word and statutes to live by, so that we could enjoy His goodness and the wonders of His Person in a genuine relationship with Him.

Today, I hope you receive a fresh revelation of who God really is!

Say This: "Father, I am so glad that Jesus revealed You to us! I believe Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. Engrave that reality in my heart so I have an accurate view, picture and revelation of who You really are. You are a good God and You always have been. Help me be more like You to the world around me! In Jesus' Name. Amen."

IT'S NOT TOO LATE

Jennifer Cole

“What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
Luke 18:27, NLT

As we start the 4th quarter of this year, let’s take a moment to dust off those New Year’s Resolutions. How has the year gone for you so far? Are your resolutions coming to pass...or maybe it feels like they’re slipping out of your hands?

Here’s the basic truth -- the enemy wants you to think hope is lost. That too much of the year has gone by for your dream to happen this year. Well guess what...God formed the world in 6 days...there’s no doubt He can change your life in the 90 or so days we have left in 2019! Hey, it’s 2019 until it’s 2020, y’all -- don’t cash in your dreams for this year just because 4th quarter is starting!

Just think of what 90 days could do for you. What if you read your Bible every day for 90 days? (Try reading 1 Proverbs chapter per day -- you’ll get through that book three times in 90 days --and it’s chock full of wisdom!) What if you prayed and talked with God over your morning coffee for 90 days? What if you posted a Scripture on your mirror and spoke it in faith over your situation every day for 90 days? Can God work in your life in HUGE ways in all of that -- absolutely!

>>Stay connected with God and keep the faith...your miracle is in motion!

Keep pressing in, keep seeking Him, keep growing and learning the Word. And don’t ever let the enemy tell you it’s over, when your God says that with Him all things are possible! (Matthew 19:26) So let’s be people who make the most of each day, each moment that still remains in 2019. Keep pursuing the Lord and the dreams He’s put in your heart!

Say This: “Father, thank You for the dreams You’ve put in my heart. Thank You that this year is not over, there’s still lots of time to keep learning the Word, drawing closer to You and pursuing my dreams. I’m so thankful that with You all things are possible! Help me to make the most of the remaining days in 2019. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

BUCKET LIST

Jennifer Cole

Tell those who are rich not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which will soon be gone, but their pride and trust should be in the living God who always richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give happily to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them. By doing this they will be storing up real treasure for themselves in heaven – it is the only safe investment for eternity! And they will be living a fruitful Christian life down here as well.

1 Timothy 6:17-19, TLB

Have you made a bucket list? Meaning...before you “kick-the-bucket”...what do you want to do? Start? Finish? Try? If you’ve never made that kind of list, take a moment to think about what you might put on it. What kinds of things would make it onto your list?

I believe there are two categories that should both be represented on our bucket lists. They are effectiveness and enjoyment -- both are mentioned in the verse above. Let’s take a look at the importance of each of them:

Effectiveness! God wants you to invest your life. What will your life amount to? Who have you helped? Influenced for eternity? I hope that you've already made a decision to invest your temporary life -- time, energy, money, gifts, talents -- into eternal things. I hope you are living a purposeful life of "no regrets" to glorify the Lord -- being rich in good deeds, generous and willing to share Christ and your abundance with others.

Enjoyment! God wants to bless your life! God gives us all things richly to enjoy. Sometimes, we have a hard time accepting the fact that the Lord wants us to enjoy a blessed life with no apologies -- but He does! I have found that when we live for effectiveness then He also blesses us with enjoyment. Aren’t you thankful for the goodness of God?! When we seek first His kingdom and His priorities -- He gives us richly all kinds of things for our enjoyment...family, friends, mountains, rivers, oceans, airplanes, cars, motorcycles, boats, beaches, moonlight, food, drink, flowers, jewelry, shoes, clothing, sports, travel…and so much more.

>>So, the idea is to live for effectiveness and gain enjoyment!

If this is not quite how your bucket list (or your daily priority list!) looks right now...then I encourage you to spend some time with the Lord getting stirred up in this area. There’s just no better life than one aligned with Christ’s priorities! If you’re not sure where to start on that journey, pray this out and follow His leading!

Say This: “Father, help me to invest my life into things of eternal value. Help me to love, serve and give to others, sharing the love of Christ everywhere I go. Help me to align my priorities with Yours. And thank You that as I seek first Your kingdom, You give me richly all kinds of things for my enjoyment! Thank You for your goodness to me! In Jesus' Name. Amen."

SET GREAT THINGS IN MOTION

Jennifer Cole

What if I told you the most powerful way to set great things in motion for any area of your life, doesn’t cost a penny? It’s not a self-help book, mail-order specialty food or a new workout routine.

>>The greatest way to put your best future into motion is to speak out faith-filled words!

The Bible says we should call things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:17 KJV). We shouldn’t limit our words to just what we see...and the way things are right now. Set your sights on what God says your life can be like -- and then speak that out in faith, no matter what your present circumstances look like!

So, how do you do this? In each area of your life, find the Bible promises that you can tuck into your heart and then speak out in faith with your words! God’s Word never returns void -- it always accomplishes what it sets out to do (Isaiah 55:11 KJV). Faith-filled words will really get great things in motion in your life!

The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21, NIV

Here are a couple of declaration samples...start with these if you’d like and then build your own as you dig into what the Bible says about what God has for you!

For students (or parents - you can pray this over your children!):
“This year will be my best year yet! As I go to school I am full of joy, life, love and boldness. I have the mind of Christ. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I am a leader for God’s kingdom every day. I am anointed to learn, make friends and be the best student I can be. God is with me, He is for me and He is on my side. I am successful, prospering and blessed. I will be a world changer in my school, on my sports teams and in my group of friends. This year is going to be my best year ever! Amen.”

For anyone:

“Because I am a believer in Jesus Christ and build my life on God’s Word, I make this declaration: I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. I am full of faith, full of God’s wisdom and full of limitless potential and infinite possibilities. Every day I walk in God’s favor and lean on God’s amazing grace in every area of life. I am more than a conqueror and can do ALL things through Christ Who strengthens me -- because the joy of the Lord is my strength. So by faith, I declare my body is healthy, my mind is sharp, my spirit is strong, and I am blessed to be a blessing. I declare 2019 is my best year yet! Amen.”

Say This:
“Father, thank You for all of the promises You’ve given to me in the Bible and for the incredible life You have in mind for me. Help me to learn Your promises and speak them out in faith -- regardless of what my current circumstances are like. I know that as I speak faith-filled words in line with Your Word, great things are being put into motion and my best days are ahead! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
