"Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation." Colossians 1:15, NLT

Most people have all kinds of ideas about what God is like -- but sometimes those ideas are based on misinformation, human opinion, personal experiences or religious traditions -- rather than being based on a real biblical revelation! What about you? Do you know Him? Fortunately, God is not mysterious or in hiding! He has openly revealed Himself.

>>Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God! If you want to know what God is like, just look at Jesus.

Study the life of Jesus. Listen to His words. Follow His actions. Jesus perfectly revealed the Father God to humanity. When we look at everything Jesus said and did, we get an accurate picture of the character, heart and operations of God Almighty.

We don't ever have to question what God is like -- Jesus revealed Him to us! Jesus said, "…He who has seen Me has seen the Father…" (John 14:9, NKJV)

What did Jesus show us about the Father God?

—Jesus always did good things for people. (Acts 10:38)
—Jesus rebuked religious people who worshiped their traditions more than God Himself. (Mark 7:7-9)
—Jesus always showed mercy to the humble. (Matthew 9:13)
—Jesus healed everyone that came to Him in faith. (Luke 6:19)
—Jesus did miracles for people. (John 2:11)
—Jesus didn't appreciate unbelief. (Matthew 14:31)
—Jesus never condoned sin. (John 8:11)
—Jesus was our example in facing persecution and showed us how to handle it. (Matthew 5:11-12)
—Jesus taught the Word when people had doubts. (Mark 6:6)
—Jesus had compassion on people. (Matthew 9:36)
—Jesus was our substitute in hell. He went there to pay the penalty for our sins -- so we wouldn't have to. (Psalm 16:10)
—Jesus loved and blessed kids. (Matthew 19:14)
—Jesus lived by faith in God's Word and told us to do the same. (Matthew 4:4)
—Jesus always showed up to protect His followers. (Matthew 8:25-28)
—Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and showed us how to live a Spirit-filled life. (Mark 1:10)
—Jesus had more joy than anyone else and showed us it's possible to rejoice always. (Hebrews 1:9)
—Jesus never sent tragedy, calamity or sickness to teach someone a lesson. (John 10:10)
—Jesus always turned impossible situations into possibilities. (Matthew 19:26)
—Jesus loved sinners. (Luke 7:34)

Jesus revealed God to us. God is not the unpredictable, harsh, angry ogre many people have made Him out to be. God doesn't send evil to teach, humble or get the attention of His children. God is not mysterious. All of His intentions toward His people are and have always been full of mercy, compassion, patience, graciousness, faithfulness and truth. He has given us His Word and statutes to live by, so that we could enjoy His goodness and the wonders of His Person in a genuine relationship with Him.

Today, I hope you receive a fresh revelation of who God really is!

Say This: "Father, I am so glad that Jesus revealed You to us! I believe Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. Engrave that reality in my heart so I have an accurate view, picture and revelation of who You really are. You are a good God and You always have been. Help me be more like You to the world around me! In Jesus' Name. Amen."

What if I told you the most powerful way to set great things in motion for any area of your life, doesn’t cost a penny? It’s not a self-help book, mail-order specialty food or a new workout routine.

>>The greatest way to put your best future into motion is to speak out faith-filled words!

The Bible says we should call things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:17 KJV). We shouldn’t limit our words to just what we see...and the way things are right now. Set your sights on what God says your life can be like -- and then speak that out in faith, no matter what your present circumstances look like!

So, how do you do this? In each area of your life, find the Bible promises that you can tuck into your heart and then speak out in faith with your words! God’s Word never returns void -- it always accomplishes what it sets out to do (Isaiah 55:11 KJV). Faith-filled words will really get great things in motion in your life!

The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21, NIV

Here are a couple of declaration samples...start with these if you’d like and then build your own as you dig into what the Bible says about what God has for you!

For students (or parents - you can pray this over your children!):
“This year will be my best year yet! As I go to school I am full of joy, life, love and boldness. I have the mind of Christ. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I am a leader for God’s kingdom every day. I am anointed to learn, make friends and be the best student I can be. God is with me, He is for me and He is on my side. I am successful, prospering and blessed. I will be a world changer in my school, on my sports teams and in my group of friends. This year is going to be my best year ever! Amen.”

For anyone:

“Because I am a believer in Jesus Christ and build my life on God’s Word, I make this declaration: I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. I am full of faith, full of God’s wisdom and full of limitless potential and infinite possibilities. Every day I walk in God’s favor and lean on God’s amazing grace in every area of life. I am more than a conqueror and can do ALL things through Christ Who strengthens me -- because the joy of the Lord is my strength. So by faith, I declare my body is healthy, my mind is sharp, my spirit is strong, and I am blessed to be a blessing. I declare 2019 is my best year yet! Amen.”

Say This:
“Father, thank You for all of the promises You’ve given to me in the Bible and for the incredible life You have in mind for me. Help me to learn Your promises and speak them out in faith -- regardless of what my current circumstances are like. I know that as I speak faith-filled words in line with Your Word, great things are being put into motion and my best days are ahead! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

Today, let me share a secret I’ve learned along the way...consistency is the key to getting results!

For sure we’ve all seen this! If you go to the gym twice a month, you may not meet your goal of being mistaken for The Rock. If you eat healthy once a week, you may not meet your nutrition or weight-loss goals. If you get the “suggested” amount of sleep just once per month (well okay...welcome to our life...) that’s not going to help you be your best.

You get the point! Consistency matters. Not perfection, mind you. But when you apply your focus to something consistently -- you have a much greater chance to see results!

>>The basic truth is that a regular pattern of positive activities can do amazing things for you!

So why not put consistency to work in your walk with God, today? Grab your Bible and read a chapter in Proverbs every morning for the next 30 days -- I guarantee, you’ll notice a difference in your life, mindset and attitude. Or, for the next 14 days, spend a few minutes praying and asking the Lord for His wisdom for your day while you sip your morning cup of coffee -- I guarantee you’ll feel closer and more connected to the Lord.

You could go outside and walk 10 minutes on your lunch break or institute a “technology free” hour at night to spend that time being silly with your kids or hanging out with your spouse or friends. You name it, there are so many small things that when done regularly, add up to being a big deal -- and help you get the results you desire in your life.

So, why not start doing one thing consistently today and for the next 30 days?

Say This: “Father, thank You for all of the blessings in my life. I ask You to help me see the small steps I can take consistently that will help me get the results I need in my life. Thank You for wisdom, guidance and creative ideas -- and thank You for the inner strength and will to be consistent! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7 NKJV

Sometimes we think that verse is too good to be true. Did God really say to ask for “whatever” and we can have it? Really?

The short answer is, Yes!

But what gives Him full confidence to make such a bold statement? The key is found in the beginning of that verse. That’s where He maps out what the relationship looks like -- the relationship and heart condition in which we can ask for “whatever” and see it come to pass.

God says if we abide in Him, if we have a relationship with Him, if we stay close to Him -- and His Word, the Bible, the Scriptures are living in us -- then we can ask for whatever we desire. Let’s look at John 15:7 in a couple other translations to see how He describes this relationship:

If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. (AMP)

But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you – then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done. (TPT)

Also notice this verse doesn’t say to ask for whatever God desires. It truly says whatever WE desire! But again, how is that possible…

>>Here’s the basic truth: God knows that if we are abiding in Him, and His Words are abiding in us, then He knows that our desires will be congruent with His will.

So if that’s you today -- you have a personal relationship with the Lord and His Words are living and active in your heart and life -- then ask for “whatever” and watch and see what the Lord can do in your life!

Say This: “Father, thank You for Your love, generosity and care for me. I ask You to please help me grow in my relationship with You every day and help me to learn and live by Your Word. I trust that as I enjoy a close relationship with You and live by Your Word, I may ask for ‘whatever’ and know You’re bringing it to pass! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

I’ve been asked many times…“How do you keep up with reading the Bible every day?” Or, “How do you find the time? Isn’t it boring? Is God mad at me if I don’t?” And many other variations of those kinds of questions. So, let’s chat today about some practical tips that I think will encourage you when it comes to reading your Bible!

>>The basic truth is that we all have no problem doing the things we enjoy.

If someone were to tell you that every day you should eat a pint of ice cream, most of us wouldn’t have an issue with that! (Who’s with me?) That’s a simple example but it’s so true -- it becomes easy to do something regularly and frequently, if it’s something that’s enjoyable.

That is where many get stuck in regards to Bible reading...they don’t find the joy in it because they think reading their Bible is just something they have to do to “please” God -- or to check a box on an invisible checklist of being a “good” Christian.

But...what if I told you that reading your Bible could be the most exciting part of your day? It can be! The Word is living and active (Hebrews 4:12) -- as you read the Word, you get filled with peace, wisdom, love, guidance, healing, joy, reassurance, direction, correction and encouragement! There’s nothing else like it. No Netflix binge, no social media scrolling, no hot cup of Starbucks can do all of that in your life.

Yes, it takes some effort getting started...but make the choice to do so! Be consistent and intentional about it -- ask God to speak to you through the pages, and turn up your expectation to hear from Him! Your craving for the living Word will grow and grow, the more you read...and before you know it, your Bible reading time will not just be enjoyable -- it’ll become something you value as absolutely essential in your daily life. You can do this friends! Start today!

Say This: “Father, thank You for the living Word! I know that peace, joy, direction, correction, encouragement, and so much more are found in the Bible. Lord, today I choose to intentionally start reading the Word every day, and I ask you Lord to teach me, guide me and help me to experience more of You. Stir up in me a craving for Your Word! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
